COUNTDOWN!!

We officially have TWO DAYS until we leave for vacation! We have finalized and paid for everything besides the gas in the car. Over the weekend, Bryan went to the store to stock up on snacks for the road and sunscreen, and tonight we are doing a dry run of how we are going to pack the car to see which suitcases we can take. I'm so ready to just relax by the pool and close my eyes...but not keep them closed because I don't want my children to drown. Just a long blink, maybe.

Bryan has made fun of me all summer because I've been trying to think of little things to surprise the kids with in the car or before we leave. I can't help it. I just like to make things especially special. Saturday when I got home from work, I gave them each a countdown gift. They each got a lap desk to use in the car.

For some reason, I can't rotate this picture. It's super ticking me off...

I got it at a book sale that happens twice a year at the hospital I work at. If I recall correctly, it was something like $16.

Here is a picture of A's:

I found a picture of this on Pinterest and then finally located it on Amazon for $19, but we used rewards points from our credit card, so really it was FREE! I heart free. I also got a little clip-on reading light from the Dollar Tree since big sister's had a light.

I had last Friday off and I worked my tail off to clean out the girls' closets. I was like a ping pong ball going from one task to the next. Probably because of all the coffee I consumed right up until lunch time. I worked 2 12-hour shifts over the weekend, and I've been super busy all week. I thought I'd have everything all but packed in the car by now, but I am so overwhelmed with the amount of things I still need to do that my head is spinning. I can pretty much finish packing suitcases tonight...after doing 2 loads of laundry. Tomorrow I'm baking cookies as a treat for the road trip and charging all of our electronics to head off any melt-downs in the car.

TWO MORE SLEEPS TIL VACATION!

Multi Mnday (Tuesday) #2!

This week I am loving/excited about the following things...

1. Bryan's pizza! Tonight he made pizza dough and topped it with pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, black olives and mozzarella cheese. It was Amaze-b's. The only thing that could be improved on is the crust (it's a recipe we found online for whole wheat crust). Bryan wants to formulate his own concoction. I believe it will be genius. He is pretty great like that!

2. THE GOLDBERGS! I heart this TV show so much! It's based on the family of the creator of the show back when he was a kid in the 80's. It's kind of like The Wonder Years meets The Middle. Murray (the dad) is always yelling at his kids while he sits in 'the den' in his underpants. Plus there are a ton of 80's references (because it takes place then, duh) and fashion. One of my favorite lines is when the oldest son runs (very sissy like) into the house screaming "The only one who gets me is Flavor Flave!"

3. My Mickey Mouse count down chain.

I bet you thought I wouldn't talk about vacation huh? Well you were wrong, with a capitol W! I made a count down chain for our vacation (TWENTY-FIVE DAYS!) in a Mickey theme. I totally got the idea from here, I didn't come up with it. Anyway, there is a black ring (Mickeys head, naturally), then a red ring (Mickey's shorts), then a yellow ring (his shoes). Wash, rinse, repeat until you have enough rings to effectively count down to the end of the month. Each Mickey is separated by a white ring, and each Mickey 'head' has ears. It is really too precious! We start tearing off links tomorrow!!

4. My GIRLS!! I just realized recently that I don't post nearly enough pictures of my babies, so here they are!

Kennedy is smart, funny, clever, inventive and thoughtful. She may be shy and have an attitude sometimes (show me a pre-teen who doesn't have one!), but I feel like these traits will serve her well in the future. (Just not while she lives with me. ;) ) She like being a cheerleader for football this fall, and she is seriously coming into her own when it comes to things she likes/wears/listens to.

Avery is just like her big sister. Smart, clever, thoughtful, shy...wait a minute. She is for real JUST like Kennedy! She loves Curious George, she can put together a Doc McStuffins puzzle like no one I know, and she just loves her mommy so very much!

Both of my girls have wonderful attributes, and beautiful flaws that make them individuals. They are thoughtful and sensitive to the needs of others, and are total Mommy's Girls. If I hugged them as tight as I wanted to, they wouldn't be able to breathe. (Don't worry, I won't really do this to my children!)
